Have a 2006 Mitsubishi Endeavor, rear driver’s side window rolled down on it’s own. ?

The window dropped down without the help of the window motor. Now the motor will run but the window will not go up. I can slide the window up and down but the motor does nothing. Also, attempted to get door panel off but was afraid i might break something (it is my wife’s vehicle). Is there some sort of trick to getting the door panel off? Do I really need those special clip-popping tools? Is this something a shade-tree mechanic can fix? Any help would be appreciated!

Well, if you break the clips that hold the panel on–your wife won’t be happy! If you can manage to get the panel off, then, using a light, look inside the door, for a metal or plastic clip that held the regulator arm to the window channel. It’ll be at the bottom of the door. try to reinstall it. If it has broken, you will have to buy a new one at the dealers shop. BUT–If the channel has come off of the glass, then you will probably have a dealer fix item, as more dismantling will be in order! An auto glass shop can probably fix it, too, at much less cost, maybe!
W A R N I N G!!! DO NOT OPERATE THE WINDOW MECHANISM WITH YOUR HAND, ARM, OR FINGERS INSIDE THE DOOR! (I am shouting!! As a warning!!) I have seen mechanics get their appendages wounded in many ways by getting them caught in an electric window mechanism!
